Event Details

 Greetings!

We are pleased to invite you to Representing Ourselves From the Grassroots IV, sponsored by the Daphne Foundation, New York Foundation, North Star Fund, and Union Square Awards in partnership with Arts Engine, the Funding Exchange, and Manhattan Neighborhood Network.  Now in its fourth year, this unique film festival aims to showcase the media work of community organizations, build awareness about current issues of concern to grassroots activists, and demonstrate how media can advance social justice goals.

This event is open to the grantees of the sponsoring foundations and organizations. Please do not circulate this invitation to outside parties.  Grantee organizations may send up to two representatives.   Each participant should commit to attend for the entire day and complete a separate registration.  Seating will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  The registration deadline is Friday, October 2nd at 12 p.m.

Representing Ourselves From the Grassroots IV will feature videos produced by community organizations to highlight social justice issues, campaigns, and programs. In addition to screenings, a media literacy workshop will focus on video advocacy as a tool for social change, a grantee/filmmaker panel will share video production experiences, and a panel of representatives will discuss web-based distribution strategies available to grassroots organizations.

We are excited to collaborate with you in an energizing day of sharing, learning, and advancing social justice goals and look forward to your participation at the festival.

In solidarity,
